The Tickell's Blue Flycatcher (Cyornis tickelliae) is a small passerine bird in the flycatcher family.
They are blue on the upperparts and the throat and breast are rufous.
The male has the upperparts dark blue and the throat breast and flanks are orange fading into the buffy white belly. The female is duller blue with a brighter blue brow, shoulder, rump and tail.
They feed mainly by capturing insects in flight but their prey include other insects such as termites and earwigs that may be gleaned or picked from the ground.
Taljai is a spectacular spot complete with green jungle, right in the heart of the Pune city.
I normally go there, to watch the beauty of nature. Its covered with trees, you can hear sound of various birds and it feels quite relaxing after a hard work over the week.
When me and one of my friends had visited the place, we found this colorful bird sitting on a branch of the tree. The sunlight that had fallen on its face, made its color shine more beautifully.
Orange and blue color and it looked really cute.
At the start it was a little difficult to photograph since there was too much crowd there.
Later on, it was resting on one of the branches, where we could capture some great pics.
This bird is really lazy :P or for that matter its not shy like the other birds and it poses for the photographers :).
The call of the bird is metallic sounding like a series of clicks. Feeds mostly on Insects.
